Addressing Data Challenges for Cryo-Electron Microscopy
The development of direct electron detectors has increased the resolution of cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and the range of macromolecules that can be studied. This has opened up a whole new range of scientific possibilities, as evidenced by the recent Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
However, the increased volume of high resolution data presents challenges for labs, with increasing demands for data transfer, storage and analysis. This webinar will address the challenges of implementing application pipelines for automation and analysis of cryo-EM data. It will discuss the underlying computational infrastructure necessary for stable operation of a cryo-EM facility.
Charles Bowman, Bioinformatics Analyst in the laboratory of Andrew Ward at The Scripps Research Institute, will explain how he actively manages this infrastructure on a daily basis. The one-hour session will also include an opportunity for you to ask questions.
