Rio Camera
Gatan

The Gatan Rio is a revolutionary CMOS camera for all Transmission Electron Microscopy applications. With this camera you don’t need to compromise between field of view, resolution, speed and sensitivity.

Rio sets a new benchmark for scintillator cameras up to 200 kV. The newly optimised scintillator and 1:1 fiber optic coupling maximise light generation and collection, unlike lens or tapered fiber optic coupled cameras, which lose most of the light from the scintillator.

  • – Highly sensitive: Gpixel CMOS sensor with 100% duty cycle and ultra-low readout noise
  • – High resolution: 9 µm pixel, optimal for 30 – 200 kV operation
  • – Large field of view up to 16 megapixels (4k x 4k)
  • – Fast: Up to 20 4k x 4k resolution frames per second, and 160 1k x 1k frames per second
  • – Flexible: Suitable for many applications, including routine EM, HREM, in-situ, diffraction and 4D STEM
  • – Automatic column, holder and specimen drift compensation
  • – Live, full resolution display as standard, with drift correction – so you don’t need separate View and Acquire modes

Optional In-Situ Mode and Software

Use LookBack post-event triggering to capture video of events you may otherwise have missed. This also helps with data storage; capture only the video you need.

Monitor demanding, high-speed experiments with high temporal and spatial resolution. The In-Situ Explorer software module gives you full control, as well as data handling  features. Manage imaging in real time with a clutter-free single palette interface. All the tools you need to view and acquire images are at hand. See results in real-time on the live video as you adjust individual TEM parameters.

TruAlign controls the orientation in which objects are displayed, with up to 360° rotation. Simply align then snap high-resolution images to the desired orientation. This responsive, live control benefits both simple images and complex in-situ experiments.
