ToScA 2017

This year’s event will be the 5th annual ToScA symposium. The conference covers:

  • Hard and soft tissue imaging
  • Understanding materials in 3D
  • Recent advances in hardware and software
  • A broad range of tomography applications

The international symposium includes keynote speakers, student talks, student poster presentations and an image competition. The event provides platform for open discussions, networking with researchers and commercial industry as well as an opportunity for collaboration.

There’ll be workshops on Wednesday 6th September and then the two day symposium takes place on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th September 2017.

Live Demos at our Booth

Visit our booth to see live demonstrations on the SkyScan 1275, an automated benchtop micro-CT system from Bruker.

Bruker SkyScan 1275 Micro-CT

  • Fast scans in as little as 80 seconds
  • Scan at the press of a single button (or operate manually)
  • Self-optimising features for high quality images
  • Ultra fast 3D image reconstruction with GPU acceleration (5-10 times faster than conventional CPU-based reconstruction)

Come to our Workshop

We’ll be holding a workshop on Wednesday 6th September, which is complementary to the other workshops running that day:

Blue Scientific Bruker Skyscan Workshop

At our workshop you’ll be able to scan your own sample on the Bruker SkyScan 1275 micro-CT. With advances in scanning and reconstruction software, you can scan your object and produce a 3D rendering in as little as 5 minutes! You’ll be able to take home a digital rendering to show others, using our free app running on a tablet.

Bring a sample with you to the workshop – Samples can be up to 95mm in diameter and 120mm in length; energies from 20 to 100 kV and nominal resolution is 4 micron (pixel size at maximum magnification).

The workshop works as a standalone session – or combine with these other workshops for the full experience to really see what micro-CT can do!

  • Specimen Prep in Earth Sciences (run by the Natural History Museum) – Micro-CT does not require sample preparation, however there are a few guidelines for optimal data acquisition. Prepare your sample in this session, then bring it to our workshop for scanning!
  • 3D Printing from CT Data (run by the University of Portsmouth) – Take your data file and learn about how to model, mesh and 3D print it!
  • Amira-Avizo Software – Take the data from your scan to the Amira-Aviso workshop for further processing.

Full details are on the ToScA 2017 website.
