New Frontiers and Challenges in Surface Analysis

In 1978, David Hercules published a paper in Analytical Chemistry entitled “Challenges in Surface Analysis”. Almost four decades later, substantial progress has been made in many areas, but many of the issues identified in 1978 still remain.

Understanding surface chemistry and structure is key to scientific and technological development. As complexity increases and devices become smaller, there are always new challenges in surface analysis.

The UKSAF Winter Meeting brings experts from industry and academia together, with instrument users and manufacturers to share their problems and challenges. The event is a platform to discuss new and ongoing issues in surface science.

UKSAF Young Researchers Day

Before the meeting there will be a Young Researchers Day on Thursday 5th January 2017, for PhD students in surface science and analysis, along with a social event. All students taking part in the day will be eligible for free registration to the main UKSAF meeting. There are also travel awards available from the UKSAF committee.

Abstracts

If you would like to present a talk and/or a poster, submit your abstract to s.fearn@imperial.ac.uk. The deadline is 14th December 2016.

Venue

The venue for the conference will be the Huxley Building at the University of Brighton.

Registration

Register for the meeting on the UKSAF website.
