High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig Module (HFRR) for the Bruker UMT TriboLab

A new High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) module is now available for the Bruker UMT TriboLab mechanical tester. This enables you to perform materials qualification tests and lubricant screening in your lab on a benchtop system.

Blue Scientific is the official Nordic distributor for Bruker tribometers and mechanical testers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. For more information or quotes, please get in touch.

High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig Module

With the new High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) module you can perform tests at benchtop scale on the Bruker UMT TriboLab:

  • Wide range of materials qualification tests
  • Lubricant and material screening

Assess the performance of lubricants and surfaces under simulated conditions while monitoring changes in friction, simulating standard protocols such as ASTM D6245.

Benchtop Testing

Testing surfaces and lubricants on reciprocating systems such as engines and linear compressors usually requires large laboratory-scale tribometers. Using the new HFRR Module, samples can now be tested at benchtop scale – making it a much more convenient option for your lab.

The High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig of the UMT TriboLab has been developed as a precise and consistent technique to evaluate materials and lubricants employed on reciprocating applications, such as engines and compressors. The flexibility of the UMT TriboLab allows the measurement of lubricants at different regimes, with the added advantages of having full control of the hardware setup and of the data analysis, enabling more possibilities than with just the use of standardized protocols.
Dr. Giovanni Ramirez - Applications Scientist, Bruker Nano Surfaces
Bruker continues its commitment to providing industrial markets with turn-key tribology solutions tailored to reducing development costs while maintaining the highest quality of data. The new HFRR Module is the only tool on the market that can provide test and data analysis flexibility along with proven correlation to industry-standard test methods.

Bruker UMT TriboLab

Bruker’s UMT TriboLab is the most versatile and widely used tribometer platform, first established in 2000. The current model is a modular system offering more functionality than ever before. It’s a practical, cost-effective solution for the development of lubrication materials.

Equipping the tribometer with the new HFFR module gives you high-precision data analysis under unique conditions, as well as meeting the requirements of ASTM and similar protocols. Friction data is presented as an absolute number, and you can also identify subtle variations along the reciprocating stroke.
