The Axia ChemiSEM is designed to make SEM more accessible and easier to use, with convenient automated features.

Unlike traditional SEMs, it collects EDS data continuously in the background. Unique algorithms process SEM and EDS signals simultaneously, so you can view the morphology and quantitative elemental composition of a sample together, in real time.

Geological Sample Imaged with SEM

Montage of a geological sample showing live quantitative elemental information, made up of 13×13 frames. The navigation montage collects multiple images and combines them automatically for imaging large areas. This visualises chemical variability within the grains over a large thin section. Areas of interest can then be pinpointed for further analysis.

Techniques

Colour SEM

Colour SEM

EDS data is collected continuously and can be view live at any time. Using colour to visualise elemental quantification, you can easily gain new insights into your sample. This reveals defects and imperfections that may otherwise go unnoticed. EDS is always on, so you don’t need to switch between techniques. It’s also quicker – compared to traditional EDS and SEM techniques, you can access elemental information 2-4 times faster.
